Automatic maintenance equipment aspirating smoke detection systems
General
The ETBU is specifically designed to provide a solution to the periodic maintenance of aspirating pipes. In heavily polluting environments the chance of sampling points being blocked increases over a longer period of time and adversely will affect the detection. In such environments it may be necessary to clean the pipes several times a year. Of course this can be done manually or with the ETBU at pre-programmed days and times. The ETBU is available from one up to four pipe connections (25 or 27mm).
Operating principle
The unit is designed for extremely dusty or contaminating environments where annual maintenance is not suffcient and no persons present which may manually perform the maintenance. By installing an ETBU and connecting this to a permanent compressed air connection the maintenance is done by the device at regular intervals.
The ETBU is equipped with one to four valves, depending on the model, and one control valve. Furthermore the unit features a built-in controller that is pre-programmed with 14 different time tables. These range from once a day to 24 hours a day every hour. The number of days can be set as well from five days or sevens days.
When the selected program starts the first valve opens and the control valve will blow compressed air pulses in the connected aspirating pipe. By blowing the compressed air in pulses, instead of continuously, the dust is loosened from the pipes giving an optimal result after the cleaning cycle. The default pulse time is set to one second with a duration of twenty seconds and can be easily adjusted according to the customer wishes. Both times determine the total cleaning time per tube, in general it will be about fourty seconds. Once the first tube is done, the second valve will start one minute after closing the first valve. This will be repeated untill all tubes are done.
